Letter from the Vice President: Kayleigh Harris
Hello alumnae! My name is Kayleigh Harris and I am the current Vice President! I’m so excited to get a chance to introduce myself to you all. I joined the chorus my second semester of my first year and I have loved every minute of it! My first year in chorus I was able to join the Managing Board as the publicity chair in the fall of 2018 and I stayed in that role until this year. I love being able to give back to the chorus in this way and I especially love being in the know on all things chorus. I live in the chorus house this year with our Librarian and Merch Chair and our two cats Jim and Dwight (guess what my favorite TV show is).
Despite all of the difficulties and hardships that covid-19 has presented to our school and choral life, we were able to accept 8 new girls this semester after an unconventional round of auditions and callbacks conducted on zoom! KaeRenae did an amazing job of coordinating callbacks and working hard to listen through some spotty signals during auditions. For Roll we were able to deliver new girls some ihop in a safe manner and do introductions on zoom; and this week we’ll continue to have events every day to welcome new girls all hosted on zoom!
We’ll have 36 girls singing this semester and for the first time in recent years we’ll have more Soprano 2’s than Alto 1’s (this is exciting to me as an S2)! I’m hoping that despite the restrictions to our social lives, we’ll all be able to remain a cohesive and tight-knit sisterhood which I hope to facilitate through zoom game and movie nights, small, socially distant picnics in the gardens, and promoting safe gatherings of fams, sections, and years. :) Wishing everyone a safe and joyful fall!
Kayleigh Harris
