Letter from the President: Emily Fox
While 2020 has definitely been a year of uncertainty, we are excited for the upcoming semester in VWC! Although the Chorus will look a bit different in the next few months, I am so happy that we are continuing to sing during these challenging times. An album will take the place of our annual Candlelight Concerts, and our usual rehearsals in Old Cabell Hall will be held online and outside.
The Chorus is also proud to have taken a stand in the recent push for racial equality and justice in this country. Our Appointed Board has grown in size over the summer, with the addition of a Diversity and Inclusion Chair position. We also were ecstatic to be able to match $500 in donations to a local charity, Girls for a Change, which empowers young women of all backgrounds to engage in social justice initiatives.
Lastly, I would love to give a shoutout to our Spring 2020 grads, who we miss dearly: Sarah Atkinson, Astrid Cevallos, Joyce Cheng, Jiyoung Kim, Julia Kothmann, Sarah Meng, and Sarah Thomas. We wish you all the best of luck in your future endeavors, and hope you’ll come back to visit!
