President's Letter

Hi everyone!

My name is Rachel Hoak and I’m the new president of VWC. You might have heard from me before, either through fundraising updates last year, when I was fundraising chair, or in publicity emails from the year before that, when I served as publicity chair. I’m ecstatic to be leading the chorus through our first full year of in person concerts since the pandemic began and I’m very excited to connect with all our wonderful alumnae and friends through concerts and virtual receptions. 

This semester we’re excited to be continuing our annual Women Against Violence benefit concert on February 19th. We’ll be raising money for SARA, the Sexual Assault Resource Agency here in Charlottesville. Our theme this year is “Carry On” and we have six amazing groups lined up to perform with us. If you want to help us raise money for SARA, you can Venmo any donations to @vwchorus and write “SARA donation” in the description!

Looking past WAV, we’re beginning to plan our in-person Spring Concert on April 2nd, which will be our first one in person since 2019. Stay tuned for more details about this as we get closer, but we hope to see you there!
