Dear Alumnae and Friends of the Chorus,

Hello once again! It seems like I was just introducing myself as the new President, and here we are over halfway through the semester.

I am delighted to invite you all to our Annual Spring Concert, entitled “Songs of Glad Tidings!”, which promises to be a joyous occasion. Those who attended the Connections Sing-Along got a bit of a sneak peek at our upcoming concert, but there will be new songs to look forward to as well. There will be a wide range of music including classical, jazz, and contemporary pieces. The chorus is especially excited to perform compositions by two of UVA’s own faculty, Judith Shatin and John D’earth. The concert will be held on April 7th at 4:00 PM at Westminster Presbyterian Church on Rugby Road. The concert is free for everyone, but suggested donations are $5 for students, $10 for seniors (65+), and $15 for adults. Please visit our website if you would like further details about the concert. We would love to see you all there!

I would also like to say how great it was to see all of the alumnae who were able to make it to the Connections Sing-Along. I know myself and the rest of the girls currently in chorus loved getting to meet the incredible women who have come before us and created the strong group we are today. Being in the group currently, it is sometimes easy to forget that we are members of the oldest female choral group at UVA. I am proud to be a part of a group with such a strong history of supporting generations of women and a continued dedication to quality musicianship. One part of this group that I think makes VWC so special is the relationships formed through our time together. Seeing women greeting their friends who they had met through the chorus at the sing-along was so heartwarming. It is so encouraging to think about how meaningful and long-lasting the friendships are from VWC.

Thank you all for continuing to support and encourage the chorus. Hope you all have a great start to Spring, and we hope to see you all at our concert in April!

Sincerely,

Sarah Thomas
