Letter from the Vice President
Hello Everyone!
I’m Sydney Williams, the newly elected Vice President of VWC. I’m a third year on a pre-medical track pursuing a major in Cognitive Science with a concentration in Neuroscience as well as an English minor. I joined the chorus during my first year at UVA, and I feel so blessed that I did. The Chorus has truly made my time here at UVA all the more special as I’ve made countless memories with my fellow Vdubz. I will never forget all of the laughs in B012, the New Girl Nights, and the Over the past three years, I've been a dedicated member of the chorus as I’ve served as the librarian and fundraising chair. However, I’m beyond excited to take on my new role as Vice President.
With COVID-19 running rampant, this past year has been particularly challenging with the rise of Zoom fatigue and long semesters with limited breaks. As Vice President, I hope that I can bring our members away from their computer screens whenever possible! This semester, I have provided a walk-buddy system to allow for chorus members to get outdoors and walk together in between classes. In addition, I look forward to planning Sunday Picnic brunches on the lawn as well as hiking trips to Humpback Rocks. These events will hopefully provide our members with a breath of fresh air and a change to get to know their fellow Vdubz in a more personal way (a.k.a knowing how tall their peers are, a sign of if you truly know a person nowadays, haha!). Furthermore, I also am looking forward to hosting self-care nights, movie nights, and game nights over Zoom as well.
Overall, I’m excited to share some new ideas with my fellow Vdudz to integrate additional outdoor activities into our sisterhood schedule. I’m looking forward to introducing the new girls to our fun and zany traditions, while infusing some new social events into the mix. Can’t wait to tell you all more in the coming Newsletter! Thank you :)
