Dear Alumnae and Friends,

I hope 2019 is going well for you! There is special excitement in the air as we begin preparations to perform our first commissioned work! Based on poems by Emily Brontë, Ola Gjeilo has composed Bluebell, a work in two parts for 10 instrumentalists. We are grateful to the Jefferson Trust for providing funding for this music, and to the Parents Fund for their generosity. Hear the premiere of this work, along with music inspired by women’s poetry, and several new selections by women composers at our spring concert, “A Celebration of Women and The University”, Saturday, April 13, at 1pm in Old Cabell Hall. Plans for a reception after the concert are in the making. It should be a special afternoon and we hope you can join us!

I am inspired that the Chorus continues to grow - as a fine musical organization, as a cherished sisterhood, and with its expanding outreach - and I am grateful for the enthusiasm our Managing and Appointed Boards bring each week. The students remain dedicated and committed to musical excellence and take great pride in presenting memorable concerts and as always, are a real pleasure to work with. We follow in your footsteps and hope you are proud to be a Vdub!

It was wonderful to see so many of you at our Candlelight Concerts in December. Thank you for coming! And thanks to Megan Winter for planning the pre-concert reception. We express our immense gratitude for your continued interest and support. The Chorus would not be able to continue its mission without your help. Thank you!

Vdubz love,

KaeRenae
