Alumnae Corner

Supersisters

Last semester, our previous Alumnae Relations Chair, Mackenna Gordon, worked very closely with one of our alumnae, Chris Butler, to start another wonderful opportunity: the Supersisters mentoring program. We wanted to reach out to anyone who didn’t get a chance to sign up last semester but still would like an opportunity to connect with and mentor some of our current chorus members and to ask anyone who participated last semester to fill out a feedback form. You can click here for the link to the sign-up form, and here for the feedback form!

Alumna in the Spotlight:

Name: Elizabeth Linsley

Graduation Year: CLAS 2004

What has life been like after graduation?

After graduation, I went to Shenandoah Conservatory and got a Master of Music in Clarinet Performance.  Then I decided that I was burned out with auditions and that I would much rather spend my days with kids, so I went back and got a second masters, along with my teaching license.  Currently, I am an elementary general music teacher for Fairfax County Public Schools.  I teach preschool through 6th grade, adaptive music, and chorus.  This is my 13th year, which is crazy! The last several years have been super challenging, but it is wonderful to be making music in person with other people again, and it turns out that I still would rather spend my days with kids! In my free time, I play clarinet, sing along to my favorite musicals, dance (ballroom, ballet, and tap), read, draw, and bake.  I also sing with the Fairfax Choral Society's Vocal Arts Ensemble, which is thanks to a fellow Virginia Women's Chorus sister/alumna: Erin Anne!

What are your favorite VWC memories?

My favorite memory from my time with VWC was my 21st birthday.  It happened to fall on a rehearsal night, so my chorus sister, Lexi, took me out for dinner, and then we went to rehearsal afterwards.  It was perfect!
