Virginia Women's Chorus 41st Annual Candlelight Concerts - Dec 7

You will not want to miss these sublime candlelight concerts December 6 and 7! Step into the wonder and celebration of this glorious season with the Virginia Women’s Chorus 41st Annual Candlelight Concerts. These concerts have been called Charlottesville’s best-kept secret and welcome many returning listeners each year who leave imbued with the true spirit of the season. They are often called “more than a concert”!

These concerts will feature the well-known A Ceremony of Carols by Benjamin Britten, accompanied by Anastasia Jellison, professional harpist. Additionally, the Chorus will present lovely, reflective music as well as more popular and well-known music. Well-balanced in its fun and more serious selections, the program showcases the variety that has become a hallmark of the Virginia Women’s Chorus.

The Chorus is unique in that it is a student-run organization which hires a professional conductor. This is the 29th year under the direction of Katherine (“KaeRenae”) Mitchell. Virginia Women’s Chorus is composed of undergraduate and graduate students from numerous degree programs and provides a nurturing and fun community for students and community members.

These concerts have often sold out or have been close to capacity and it is advised that tickets be purchased early to ensure seating. Tickets may be purchased through the Arts Box Office - https://tickets.artsboxoffice.virginia.edu/events - and at the door 30 minutes prior to the concert.

Accolades come from many concertgoers and include comments such as this: “The concert was stunningly beautiful, sensitively programmed and a musical treat of the highest order. It really was quite amazing.”

Mark your calendars now for these candlelight concerts with harp, angelic voices, and piano at University Baptist Church on 1223 West Main Street University Baptist Church is located on the corner of McCormick Road and University Avenue. Parking is available in the Central Grounds Parking Garage and in the parking lots on the UVA Corner.
