You will not want to miss these sublime candlelight concerts with harp December 1 and 2! Step into the wonder and celebration of this glorious season with the Virginia Women’s Chorus 40th Annual Candlelight Concerts. These concerts have been called Charlottesville’s best-kept secret and welcome many returning listeners each year who leave imbued with the true spirit of the season. They are often called “more than a concert”!
The Chorus will present lovely, reflective music as well as more popular and well-known music, including Mary, Did You Know?, In the Bleak Midwinter, and White Winter Hymnal. This concert will feature professional harpist Anastasia Jellison who will also play prelude music, so come early to enjoy. Selections from A Ceremony of Carols (Britten) and Choral Hymns from the Rig Veda (Holst) will form the centerpiece of the concert. Well-balanced in its fun and more serious selections, the program showcases the variety of repertoire that has become a hallmark of the Virginia Women’s Chorus.
Accolades come from many concertgoers and include comments such as this: “The concert was stunningly beautiful, sensitively programmed and a musical treat of the highest order. It really was quite amazing.”
