Need some fun and nostalgic live music in your life? The Virginia Women’s Chorus is switching things up and going with country and rock music from yesteryears during the second half of the concert. Accompanied by guitar, banjo, fiddle, bass and percussion, the Chorus promises to leave you feeling uplifted and inspired.
This concert will feature favorites such as Landslide (the Fleetwood Mac), Seven Bridges Road (the Eagles), and Teach Your Children (Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young) as well as the recent positive theme song by Kacey Musgraves, Oh, What a World. The first half will feature classical and folk music, including Scarborough Fair and the spiritual My Soul’s Been Anchored in the Lord. Well-balanced in its fun and more serious selections, the program showcases the variety that has become a hallmark of the Virginia Women’s Chorus.
The Chorus is unique in that it is a student-run organization which hires a professional conductor. This is the 26th year under the direction of Katherine (“KaeRenae”) Mitchell. Virginia Women’s Chorus is composed of undergraduate and graduate students from numerous degree programs and provides a nurturing and fun community for students and community members.
Face masks are strongly suggested for all people, regardless of vaccination status. All singers will be wearing masks.
