Recognizing the power of music to unite and uplift, the Virginia Women’s Chorus is presenting the 4th annual Women Against Violence (WAV) concert Saturday, September 28. Proceeds from the concert will benefit the International Rescue Committee (IRC). The concert, “Women Against Violence: Try a Little Kindness”, will feature a wide variety of music - Jazz, Pop, Classical, and more - shared by musicians near and far.
Some of the finest a cappella groups at UVA and in the community will be participating and Ellis Butler, singer and acoustic guitarist from the DC area, will be our featured soloist. Hear the Virginia Gentlemen, Virginia Belles, Hoos in Treble, and No Fella A Cappella! Joining us in our #4thWAV concert are two UVA groups: the Black Voices Gospel Choir and the Virginia Men’s Glee Club. Popular music favorites include Loves Me Like a Rock, Try a Little Kindness, and Over the Rainbow.
Tickets may be purchased on the Lawn before the concert and at the door. Cash, check, and Venmo to @VW-Chorus (please put your name and, if you are affiliated with UVA, your computing ID) are all accepted. Student tickets are $6 and general admission tickets are $12.
The Chorus is most appreciative of the Office of the Dean of Students for assistance with funding that has made this concert possible. Come hear 4 amazing a cappella groups, 3 amazing musical groups, and 1 stellar performer Saturday, September 28, at 8 PM in McLeod Hall. Be a part of this annual event at UVA and support women against violence while enjoying the music!
